The topics you save, any note you attach to them, the answers generated for them, the sources those answers cite, and your email address if you create an account. That is the whole list.

• The model provider. Your topic text and note are sent to Azure OpenAI (gpt-4o) to write the answer, on an API tier that does not train on customer data. Your email address is never sent.
• The search provider. For answers that use live sources, the topic is sent as a search query to Curio's own search service, which queries Exa or DuckDuckGo and then reads the pages it finds directly.
• Email. If you turn on research-ready notifications, the topic title and your address go to the mail provider that delivers that one message.

Nothing else. No data broker, no ad network, no resale.

One cookie, which keeps you signed in. Curio records first-party usage events — a topic was saved, an answer was opened, someone scrolled halfway, a source was clicked — so the product can tell whether it is actually useful. Those events are tied to your account id and are read in aggregate. There are no advertising trackers and no third-party analytics scripts.

You can save up to 5 topics without an account. That data lives against an anonymous id in a cookie. Add an email later and everything moves across intact. Guest data that is never claimed is deleted after 90 days.

One button in Settings. It removes your account, topics, answers, sources, job records and events immediately — well inside the 24 hours we commit to — and it cannot be undone.

A narrow list: instructions for seriously harming people, methods of self-harm, and sexual content involving minors. Ask for one of those and you get a plain explanation rather than an error. Everything else is fair game — difficult history, contested science, uncomfortable questions.

Answers about health, law or money carry a one-line note saying they are general information rather than professional advice, because they are.

Answers are written by a language model. When Curio could not reach live sources it says so at the top of the answer instead of quietly presenting an unverified answer as a researched one. Sources that are dead or paywalled are labelled rather than hidden. Check anything that matters.
